isla events is a wedding and event coordination business on the Island of Hawaiʻi (Big Island). We curate unique ecotourism experiences for you and your guests so you can leave a positive trace on the ʻāina (land) and community.
Why ecotourism? Hawaiʻi is often viewed as exotic and foreign, which leads to the commodification of Native Hawaiian values and practices. The current tourism industry places value on Hawaiʻi and Hawaiian culture as a form of entertainment - something ecotourism directly combats. Ecotourism empowers visitors to engage with the ʻāina and community in sustainable and impactful ways to leave a positive trace.

Kayla (she/her) is passionate about sustainable travel, event planning and community engagement. She spent several years as an event coordinator for different universities until she and her husband moved to Hawaiʻi Island. She spends her free time hiking, running and tending to her garden.
